About Us:
Sandra Dennis was bitten by the travel bug at an early age. Her photos quickly became more than travel snaps of family and friends in front of monuments. She has always shown an uncanny knack for “capturing the moment” and an eye for appropriate shot composition.
Wildlife / People & Places / Landscapes
Sandra and husband David have captured many thousands of images from “all corners of the globe” in these genres. An awesome, pacing Siberian tiger at the Paris Menagerie provided an early challenge. However, after an epiphany moment at the Singapore zoo when digital SLRs were in their infancy, Sandra came home and undertook courses in photography and post processing of digital images.
We moved on from zoos and soon became addicted to the adrenalin rush experienced when capturing images of successful hunting big cats in Africa and India as well as some of the amazing creatures of the Galapagos Islands and Borneo.
Sandra’s skills were recognised when one of her Antarctic images won her a trip around Svalbard (in the High Arctic). Working alongside several internationally acclaimed photographers, she rose to the challenges of shooting walruses as well as polar bears hunting seals and frolicking. One of these shooters was a war zone photojournalist Nobel Peace Prize recipient. Another is a respected wildlife documentary consultant, photo tour leader and published author of wildlife books. Shooting in such company helped her to lift her game.
David’s role was initially that of “caddy” and spotter. However, more recently, he has been working hard in the role of second shooter so that we can cover more angles.
Weddings and Events
After friends, relatives and colleagues had viewed some of our trip photobooks, we had a few requests for us to photograph their weddings.
Despite some initial misgivings about taking the responsibility for capturing still shots that retell the story of a couple’s special day, we accepted and are now glad we did. Once we got our heads around the different requirements for this field of photography and immersed ourselves in the work, we found the genuine delight expressed by the couples when they viewed the results most gratifying.
A continuing source of surprise is how one wedding can be so different from the next and yet both are wonderful.
Whether you decide to engage us to shoot your wedding or not, congratulations on getting married! We hope your special day goes well.
